show Abstracthide AbstractThe reproductive plasiticity is crucial for animals to maximize the fitness to the environment. The migratory locust have reproductive phase polyphenism between the gregarious and solitarious phases. In oder to explore underlying mechanisms, we used high-throughput sequencing to compare the small RNA profiles of gregarious and solitarious in the terminal oocytes, ovariolar tips and follicle cells in female locusts. We found the expression of piRNAs in ovariolar tips display significant differences between the gregarious and solitarious locusts.
